Lump Sum - Bon Iver

They played this song and some others from Bon Iver's For Emma, Forever Ago between sets last night. Didn't place the sound right off, but enjoyed the vibe from the get go.

Evangelicals - Skeleton Man (live from last night)

The girls on stage were from the crowd. The accordion player was from the main act - the Headlights.

Evangelicals at the Hi-Dive

Why the Evangelicals were the opening band is beyond me. Both times I've seen them they've outperformed the headliner. Their live show has a looseness that compliments their tight studio sound. Loud, balanced and energetic - cut short by the restraints of being an opener.

Papercuts & Beach House

Good show last weekend at the Hi-Dive. The Papercuts performed several songs I hadn't heard before - new songs I'd guess - most of which I liked. The dude from Beach House played the organ with them. Last time they played in Denver he wasn't around and I preferred their sound without him. His organ playing was heavy and drawn out, regularly dominating the Papercuts simple sound. Beach House was consistent with their albums - they sound best to me as a background and not as a feature.

Turtle House - Beach House

Going to see Beach House & Papercuts tonight. Been listening to Beach House's Devotion quite a bit lately. Their ambient sound lends itself to being enjoyed at a lower volume, so it should be interesting to see how it translates into a live show.

Heaven - Health

The silent intro left a break in the random playback I was listening to this morning. After not having listened to this album in a while, the impact of the first notes were a nice surprise.

The video was made entirely from footage taken from the Werner Herzog documentary "The Great Ecstasy of the Woodcarver Steiner" (1974). Herzog isn't what he used to be, that's for sure.

River Card - Atlas Sound

Nice mellow groove from Deerhunter's Bradford Cox - the dark lyrics of being drowned are pretty easy to ignore if you're not into that sort of thing.

A Place To Bury Strangers & Holy Fuck - Larimer Lounge 03.07.08

A Place To Bury Strangers - loud and heavy on the guitar feedback and effects - like their album. Was hoping for the best with these guys and got it.

Video of a fav song - To Fix the Gash in Your Head

Holy Fuck - I wasn't repeating their name over and over at the end of their set, but they were a good act. I didn't get a clear view of the drummer so it wasn't always easy to tell what was pre-recorded and live.
